The Lentil Intervention is an Australian and New Zealand educational and advocacy platform, and a registered New Zealand charity, disseminating all aspects of planetary health.

At the core of The Lentil Intervention lies a multifaceted approach. Through our podcast, we disseminate knowledge and spark dialogue; Athletes For Nature and Sports Gear Revived serve as the tangible manifestations of our commitment to action

Our Story and Mission

The Lentil Intervention (TLI) exists to support climate-friendly, healthy lifestyles while amplifying people and projects working towards a healthier planet.

Founded in 2020 by Ben Eitelberg and Emma Strutt, TLI grew from a shared recognition of the need for locally grounded, honest content on plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine in Australasia. What began as a podcast focused on environmental wellness, plant-based nutrition, and movement quickly expanded as the broader social, environmental, and economic dimensions of planetary health became clearer.

In response to the urgency of our health and climate crises, TLI was registered as a charitable trust in New Zealand in 2021, enabling deeper action and collaboration.

And the name? A sisterly mix-up turned the need for a “mental intervention” into a “lentil intervention”... and it stuck.
